Arcade (2022)

Interactive installation (Directors: Fabián Sguiglia, Fernando Toth)
Mecenazgo (GCBA). cheLA. Tecnópolis.

ARCADE is an interactive installation that demands a high physical performance. It proposes that the body is the necessary support of any interaction with information, and that any relationship with technology happens in a territory and through a body. ARCADE deploys two senses of the word performance: an action performed in front of an audience, and quantification and performance.

ARCADE is a movement game for one participant. The game begins when the player enters the Play Area, a projected surface containing 4 speakers mounted on ring lights. The speakers and the lights turn on periodically, generating an alarm signal and projecting a circle of light on the floor. The player must step on the light circles before they go out. If they fail to do so in time, they lose one of their three lives. When three lives are lost, the game is over. A playthrough of Arcade is a high-intensity experience that lasts between two and four minutes.

ARCADE was developed with the support of cheLA and, through the Mecenzago program of the City of Buenos Aires, the Itau Foundation. It premiered at cheLA in August 2022 and was exhibited at the Laboratorio de Arte Electrónicas, Tecnópolis in October 2022.
